neophyte xykiel (the boy)
Xykiel (the boy) came into being 8 years ago, when I was introduced to the lifestyle officially through a real-life slave and her mentor in Second Life. He has always been just an extension of me, in his behaviors, thoughts, morals and beliefs. Through him I spent 3 years attending lifestyle discussions, classes, and events online. That began my education and journey down the Master/slave path that I have chosen to live my life on. It is through those years, that I attended many discussions facilitated by Master Kaddan. I always seemed to walk away from those discussions, with something new to think about, and many times things to put into my own life.
For the past 5 years, I have facilitated lifestyle discussions at the Art of Submission and have enjoyed sharing some of the knowledge I have gained, but also continue to learn from each one I facilitate.
After 3 years of online, I took the step into the real life local community around me. I found a treasure trove of people who were accepting of me and who I am. I have had the pleasure of learning fire play, and some very basics of rope, flogging, and sensation play. I look forward to exploring and learning more of those and perhaps needles.
I did also learn that the real-life community is very different than online, in ways of communication, and actions that were, or sometimes not, behind the words.
The one thing I did not find was the structure and protocol associated with the Leather Community, which is something I want to incorporate into my journey. I attended the 2015 Master slave Conference in Washington D.C. and had my first real exposure to it, which just drove it home that it was the path that I wished to go down. At MsC I also had the pleasure of meeting Master Kaddan and the Yue family in person. I also received the honor of becoming Yue extended family. I have had the pleasure of attending 3 conferences now, and each has brought me deeper learning and understanding of the Master/slave and Leather lifestyles.
Through my contact with Master Kaddan, I have now entered the actual family as a slave, starting on my knees and earning my way through the House and Leather. It has been a hard journey, during which I have stumbled, fallen, run away, and returned to a Master and family that have shown me integrity, patience and guidance.
As part of the House of Yue, I have become a member of LHOCC (Leather Houses of Color Coalition) in the past year. This has opened up a new group of Leather people with which to interact and learn from.
I have also become more active in my local community. I am a current board member of Society of Bastet, a not for profit group that operates the local public BDSM play space. I am also a co-leader of SOK (School of Kink), which tries to bring educators and educational events to the local community, as well as support groups and discussions designed to help people with their journeys.
In my professional life, I am a career chef of 30 years, and have found many similarities between the lifestyle and the career path I have chosen. Many of the skills needed can be used in both sides of my life. On my path, I hope to never stop learning, moving forward, and becoming a better person than I was yesterday, both professionally and personally.
